The Cruisery Brewpub - Santa Barbara, CA

Located just a few blocks from the beach, the Cruisery Brewpub offers downtown Santa Barbara a vibrant social atmosphere and a menu packed to the gills with craft drinks and excellent food. Though the Brewpub has been open since 2018, the location itself, 501 State Street, has a rich and storied past, having been occupied by a number of classy hotels, a thrift store, and even demolished as the result of an earthquake nearly a hundred years ago, only to be rebuilt and reopened for business. In short, the Cruisery continues a proud tradition of serving Santa Barbara as a locally-owned small business with their own unique flair.

The Cruisery’s interior sports a lofty ceiling with bare I-beam rafters and exposed-brick walls that help solidify the casual atmosphere. The restaurant floor is divided into bar, high-top, and wall seating sections, with plenty of room for each, depending on taste or preference. The walls are decorated with numerous antique bikes and a collection of custom framed canvas prints detailing the brewery’s selection of signature craft beers. Large televisions are mounted on walls overlooking the bars and the ambiance is a consistent mix of top hits from a multitude of genres.

In terms of cuisine, the Cruisery offers standard American bar-and-grill fare such as burgers and sandwiches, but also features an excellent selection of Tex-Mex street tacos and flatbreads, all of which include vegan/vegetarian options. The appetizers range from popcorn shrimp to baked brie to a number of different ceviches, served akin to tapas, and features additional options during the establishment’s happy hours of 3 p.m. to 7 p.m.; the kitchen even offers a full brunch menu on weekends. But at the Cruisery, the drink selection is priority number one for customers. In addition to imported and domestic labels, the bar offers a wide variety of house-selected wines and beer labels by the brewery itself. The bar also offers an impressive selection of cocktails, both staple and seasonal, designed by their in-house mixologist. These drinks are unique, eclectic, and as varied as their food offerings, ensuring a solid cocktail option for every palette.

The Furnishings

Dressed with wide-topped tables and slim bar stools, the Cruisery’s dining floor is comfortable, minimalistic, and thematically cohesive. The bar-height restaurant tables featured are made of solid wood with a live wood edge. With solid wood tops and robust industrial pipe-style crossbeam supports, the bar tables minimize their intrusion into the dining experience while maximizing convenience. The tables’ frames offer spacious legroom and footrests, while the finish of the counters metal frame and the ceiling crossbeams contrast beautifully with the light stained and sealed wood tabletops. The Live-Edge tables offer a style on the raw and rustic side, which complements the overall theme of the Cruisery and the simplistic construction allows for easy assembly, cleaning and upkeep. The contrast and minimalistic design help tie the authentic decor together, ensuring the focus is on the atmosphere and facilitating the ease of the customer’s experience.

The style of both the Slate White metal bar stools and Slate Black metal bar stools is influenced heavily by traditional European counterparts, in particular mid-century Scandinavian designs. While this can be seen mirrored in contemporary counterparts such as traditional English and Scottish bar chairs, our Slate Metal Restaurant series leans further into modernity through their material construction and streamlined design. A stout metal frame ensures the bar stools stand up to rigorous commercial use and are easy to clean and maintain, while the crossbar-supported legs and gently angled backrest keep them distinct, rather than separate, from their classical design roots. Merged together, these elements produce a traditional and reliable seat with strong tones of industrial utilitarian modernism. While the Cruisery purchased their Slate Metal Restaurant sets in both white and black finish with walnut wood finish, they are available in a variety of seat and backrest finish options, sure to match any decor need an establishment may have.
