Recently celebrating their Grand Opening in the fall of 2023, Highwind Brewing Company opened their doors with a simple philosophy. They wanted to provide Junction City with a new community hotspot; a place where locals could gather for great beer, memorable food, and, most importantly, to meet and catch up in a vibrant and fun environment.
Located in the heart of downtown in the long-abandoned Waters building, the opening of the brewery not only added a new meeting place but helped revitalize Junction City’s central district by renovating one of its most historic sites. Quickly gaining in popularity, the venue, open daily, has become the new talk of the town, beckoning both beer connoisseurs and the simply curious to try their wide and notable selection of drafts.
Design
A striking blend of industrial, rustic, and urban design themes await the first time visitor. The use of glossy black metal against natural wood elements creates a pleasing effect, complemented by the utilitarian stone floors and stark white table tops. A high matte-black factory-style ceiling is accented by sleek pendant lighting, shining on the frames of the chairs and reflecting faintly off the wood support beams and laminate bar counter.
The bar area embraces the use of wood, accentuating the rustic highlights of this industrial space. Solid wood planking adorns the counter, and a wood overhang adds visual interest, helping to separate this area from the rest of the restaurant. Vintage style bulbs are spaced neatly, and the bar stools line up, ready to serve the first customer of the day.
