Located In the heart of the Kawarthas, overlooking the Jackson River the Holiday Inn Hotel Peterborough Waterfront is ideally situated along the Trent Severn Waterway in the downtown business and shopping district. The hotel's central location is near the world's highest hydraulic lift lock and Canada's only Canoe Museum, 1.5 km from our hotel. Peterborough hosts numerous festivals throughout the year, such as summer's Festival of Lights and is home to popular arts facilities, like Showplace Performance Centre. Lodging here puts business travelers near GE Canada, Siemens, Pepsi-QTG, De Laval, Ministry of Natural Resources and other businesses in Peterborough.
Among the many amenities the hotel offers, guests can enjoy a meal at the Riverside Grill and the Riverside Tap & Grill. In the summer, guests can also enjoy their Gazebo outdoor patio, with live entertainment. The Riverside Grill, which overlooks Little Lake, offers a scenic dining experience for breakfast lunch and dinner. The restaurant’s dining room, like the hotel, features an upscale, modern interior design. The restaurant’s large dining room has decorative carpeting and cream colored walls. Recessed lighting is enhanced by natural light coming from the large windows facing the lake. The Riverside Grill also has a cocktail lounge with multiple large screens for guests to enjoy sporting events. In contrast to the more formal dining room of the Grill, The Riverside Tap & Grill has hardwood flooring and low-hanging incandescent lighting giving it a more casual feel. The seating layout in the restaurant and Tap & Grill has a mix of regular and bar height tables and a counter bar.
The Holiday Inn recently underwent a complete renovation which included replacing and upgrading all of their restaurant furniture for the Riverside Grill and the Tap & Grill. The hotel wanted to update its look with contemporary decor that would be upscale and not too fancy for the hotel’s clientele which includes a mix of families, tourists and business travelers. When choosing the furniture that included everything from commercial chairs and bar stools to tables, the hotel went with premium quality upscale furnishings that would enhance the modern decor and give the hotel restaurants a sophisticated look.
For seating, the hotel went with Modern Deco Style Wood Chairs in black frame finish and padded seating in burgundy vinyl. The comfortable chairs enhance the contemporary look and feel of the decor and the burgundy adds a splash of color that fits in with the motif beautifully. To go with the chairs, they also ordered matching
Modern Deco Style Wood Bar Stools, also in black frame finish and burgundy seats. The chairs and bar stools were part of the seating mix for the Riverside Grill.
For additional seating, the hotel ordered Curved Back Wood Chairs in black frame and padded seats upholstered in black vinyl. The elegant chairs gave the dining room a refined look that went well with the carpeting and the decor without looking too ritzy. The dining room has a mix of regular and bar height tables and the hotel also chose matching
Curved Back Wood Bar Stools, also in black frame finish and padded seating.
Solid wood plank table tops in black finish with bullnose edge were added into the mix. The solid wood tops show the hotel’s dedication to quality and reinforce the upscale look. The black table tops also matched the black finish of the chairs and go nicely with their black frame finish. For additional table tops for the dining area, the hotel went with premium granite table tops in black galaxy. There is nothing quite like the look and feel of granite for a polished look. The granite table tops are also practical for a busy commercial environment like a hotel because it is very difficult to scratch or stain the surface, which keeps them looking new through years of use.
The American made, solid wood table tops can be ordered in a variety of wood finishes. The hotel ordered them in ebony black making sure that they will perfectly match the wood chairs. Solid wood tops are ideal for hotels as they exude an air of luxury and prestige leaving the guests satisfied not only by the food served but also by the setting in which it was consumed.
The granite table tops were used for bar height seating and blended well with the modern deco style bar stools. Black table bases were chosen for the table tops to complete the look. All in all, the hotel is very happy with its updated look for the dining areas. The guests seem to appreciate the new look and the comfortable seating too and we were happy to help and are proud to play a part in the Holiday Inn’s successful new look.
